We find it important that in printing our theses, we also pay attention to the cultural and natural environment. We do this in a few different ways.

Printing on Demand

Do you need fifty books, two hundred, or even more? Or are you not entirely sure yet? That's fine. The way we print our books, through the printing on demand method, makes it possible to print in small quantities. That way, you won't get stuck with any unused books. Did you end up not ordering enough? No problem, you'll always be able to order more. Additional orders are possible starting from just one copy.

FSC Quality Mark

As a company whose product consists entirely of paper and cardboard, we find it all the more important to treat the source of that paper with care: our global natural heritage. All types of paper that our printer uses have the FSC quality mark. The FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is committed to forest protection and forest restoration. Their goal is to ensure a paper industry that doesn't exist at the expense of our natural resources.

We offer the option to choose for guaranteed, 100% recycled paper. Make a note of this when you request your quotation. This way, we can save as many trees as possible!

Participation in the Trillion Trees Project From the WWF

Forests are indispensable to ensure that the earth remains habitable for the next generation. They offer clean air, water, and food. They are also one of our most important allies in the fight against climate change. This is because trees store CO₂ in their trunks, roots, and the soil. Unfortunately, forests are disappearing at an alarming rate. Where 200 years ago there were about 6 trillion trees on Earth, now we only have 3 trillion left. About 10 billion trees disappear on a yearly basis. That is why the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has the ambitious plan to plant a trillion trees. In the Atlantic Rainforest, WWF wants to focus on protecting existing forests and restoring deforested areas in a sustainable way.

It is our responsibility to ensure that we offset the CO₂ that is released during the production of our theses by planting new trees. This is why Proefschrifterij (as part of our parent company Boekscout) makes a monthly donation to offset our emissions.

Support for the Reading and Writing Foundation

In the Netherlands, 2.5 million people have trouble reading, writing, and/or arithmetics. To ensure that everyone is able to participate in our society, it is essential that everyone in the Netherlands is able to read, write, or do basic arithmethics. Because: our society is stronger when everyone can participate. That is the reason that Proefschrifterij (as part of Boekscout) supports the Reading and Writing Foundation in the Netherlands with a monthly donation.
