However, access to this database is restricted to individuals who are studying or working at the university. If you want your dissertation to be more widely accessible and to serve a societal purpose, we would be happy to assist you with that.

If you want to make your dissertation digitally available, the most straightforward approach is to make your book available as a PDF. You will receive a digital version of your dissertation from us at no cost.
Available Online as a Flipbook
Do you want to make your dissertation available as an online publication? This can be done through the Proefschrifterij platform. We transform your dissertation into a 'flipbook,' a browsable PDF of your dissertation, including front and back cover. The flipbook ensures that your book is accessible in a professional manner. The cost for this service is a one-time fee of €50.
Physical Availability
If you want to put your physical dissertation up for sale, we can convert your dissertation into a 'trade edition'. This involves removing pages related to the defense, such as the defense page, portfolio, CV, and acknowledgments. We also add a colophon to the first pages of the dissertation and provide it with a trade edition ISBN. All of this is available at a one-time additional cost of €100. We utilize the sustainable printing-on-demand method (POD) for this process.
Physical Publication
In addition to the physical copies needed for your doctoral defense, there is also an opportunity to make your book physically available to a wider audience. If (academic) bookstores or organizations are interested in selling your physical dissertation, Proefschrifterij offers the option to sell your dissertation as a physical trade edition. This allows your dissertation to be obtainable without a necessary print run through various (online) bookstores and makes it so that your dissertation can be directly ordered by interested parties via platforms like Bol.com, Standaard Boekhandel, and many other bookstores.

To ensure that bookstores across the Netherlands can find your book, the dissertation is made available through the CB (the central purchasing organization for almost every bookstore in the Netherlands) and Boekenbank.be (the Belgian counterpart of the CB). These organizations make the publications findable and ensure that the book is available for order through all (online) retailers.
Interested individuals have the opportunity to order a physical copy of your dissertation. Once we receive the order, our printer starts producing the requested number of copies. Proefschrifterij manages the entire order processing and communication with the customer on your behalf.
For every purchase of a physical copy, you receive 10% royalties on the net selling price. This way, you not only have the opportunity to make the book available in printed form to a broad audience, but you'll also be able to make a little money.
